About

What Sankey It draws, and where the numbers come from

The data

Every number comes from Financial Modeling Prep, sourced from the company's actual reported income statement, real filings, not estimates. Revenue, cost of revenue, operating expenses, and every line down to net income are pulled directly and drawn as a flow: money entering on the left as revenue, splitting and narrowing through costs, exiting on the right as profit (or loss).

The loss cascade

A company that lost money that period is drawn honestly, not flattered. When net income is negative, the flow still narrows from revenue through costs, but there is no profit node to land on - the diagram shows exactly where the last dollar of revenue went, cost by cost, and the deficit is not hidden or reframed as a small number. A loss-making quarter looks like a loss-making quarter.

Refresh cadence

The curated universe of companies (see Companies) is refreshed nightly, most-stale-first, against Financial Modeling Prep. A company outside the curated universe is generated the first time someone looks it up, then kept current the same way. See Latest for what has come in recently.

Not investment advice

Sankey It draws what a company reported. It does not recommend, rate, or predict anything, and nothing on this site is investment advice. Always verify against the company's own filings before acting on anything you see here.
